SUMMARY OF THIS RESEARCH STUDY:
This document explains a research study you might be interested in joining. Participation in the study is voluntary. You can agree to join or not. Your decision will not limit your ability to receive care at Mount Sinai. You should only agree to take part if you understand the study and if all of your questions about the research study are answered. If you do join the study, the research team must share any new information with you that may change your mind about taking part.
Why is the research being done?
The purpose of this research study is to understand the dietary challenges faced by individuals with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGID), including eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), especially those faced at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The research team have observed particularly increased challenges faced by individuals with EGID on dietary therapy.
Information gathered from this study may help individuals with EGIDs, medical providers, food manufacturers and distributors, and public officials plan better for the needs of individuals with EGIDs in the event of a future catastrophic event such as a pandemic or a natural disaster. In addition, the research team hopes that the information you provide will guide the development of meaningful resources that will help you manage dietary therapy in such an event.
The survey was developed by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, in collaboration with several patient advocacy organizations, including APFED, CURED, and Eos Family Coalition.
What will I do in this study?
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey as an individual with EGID or on behalf of an individual with EGIDs, about your experiences with dietary therapy and EGID.

How long will this study take?
This online survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. When you finish the survey, your participation in this research study is complete.

Participation
Your participation in this survey is voluntary. Instead of participating in this study, you may decide not to participate and also you may choose to discontinue answering questions at any time.

Will there be any cost to me, or will I be paid for being in this research study?
